So much for blogging once a week!

Hello!

Life has been a total shitshow since last August/September, and I can’t deal with it anymore, so I’ve been binge-watching everything and reading/listening to creepy/thriller/horror books to forget about my problems. So here are a few books I would highly recommend and their plot descriptions from Amazon.

A Flicker in the Dark by Stacy Willingham

“When Chloe Davis was 21, six teenage girls went missing in her small Louisiana town. By the end of the summer, her own father had confessed to the crimes and was put away for life, leaving Chloe and the rest of her family to grapple with the truth and try to move forward while dealing with the aftermath.

Now 20 years later, Chloe is a psychologist in Baton Rouge and getting ready for her wedding. While she finally has a fragile grasp on the happiness she’s worked so hard to achieve, she sometimes feels as out of control of her own life as the troubled teens who are her patients. So when a local teenage girl goes missing, and then another, that terrifying summer comes crashing back. Is she paranoid, seeing parallels from her past that aren’t actually there, or for the second time in her life, is Chloe about to unmask a killer?”

Then She Was Gone: A Novel by Lisa Jewell

“Ellie Mack was the perfect daughter. She was fifteen, the youngest of three. Beloved by her parents, friends, and teachers, and half of a teenaged golden couple. Ellie was days away from an idyllic post-exams summer vacation, with her whole life ahead of her.

And then she was gone.

Now, her mother Laurel Mack is trying to put her life back together. It’s been ten years since her daughter disappeared, seven years since her marriage ended, and only months since the last clue in Ellie’s case was unearthed. So when she meets an unexpectedly charming man in a café, no one is more surprised than Laurel at how quickly their flirtation develops into something deeper. Before she knows it, she’s meeting Floyd’s daughters—and his youngest, Poppy, takes Laurel’s breath away.

Because looking at Poppy is like looking at Ellie. And now, the unanswered questions she’s tried so hard to put to rest begin to haunt Laurel anew. Where did Ellie go? Did she really run away from home, as the police have long suspected, or was there a more sinister reason for her disappearance? Who is Floyd, really? And why does his daughter remind Laurel so viscerally of her own missing girl?”

A Head Full of Ghosts: A Novel by Paul Tremblay

I’ve listened to this book at least three times. I don’t know what’s wrong with me lol.

“The lives of the Barretts, a normal suburban New England family, are torn apart when fourteen-year-old Marjorie begins to display signs of acute schizophrenia.

To her parents’ despair, the doctors are unable to stop Marjorie’s descent into madness. As their stable home devolves into a house of horrors, they reluctantly turn to a local Catholic priest for help. Father Wanderly suggests an exorcism; he believes the vulnerable teenager is the victim of demonic possession. He also contacts a production company that is eager to document the Barretts’ plight. With John, Marjorie’s father, out of work for more than a year and the medical bills looming, the family agrees to be filmed, and soon find themselves the unwitting stars of The Possession, a hit reality television show. When events in the Barrett household explode in tragedy, the show and the shocking incidents it captures become the stuff of urban legend.

Fifteen years later, a bestselling writer interviews Marjorie’s younger sister, Merry. As she recalls those long ago events that took place when she was just eight years old, long-buried secrets and painful memories that clash with what was broadcast on television begin to surface—and a mind-bending tale of psychological horror is unleashed, raising vexing questions about memory and reality, science and religion, and the very nature of evil.”

The Cellar by Natasha Preston

“Summer is trapped in a cellar with the man who took her—and three other girls: Rose, Poppy, and Violet. His perfect flowers. His family. But flowers can’t survive long cut off from the sun, and time is running out…”

The Wife Between Us by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen

“When you read this book, you will make many assumptions.
You will assume you are reading about a jealous ex-wife.
You will assume she is obsessed with her replacement – a beautiful, younger woman who is about to marry the man they both love.
You will assume you know the anatomy of this tangled love triangle.
Assume nothing.

Twisted and deliciously chilling, Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen’s The Wife Between Us exposes the secret complexities of an enviable marriage – and the dangerous truths we ignore in the name of love.

Read between the lies.”

Sometimes I Lie by Alice Feeney

“My name is Amber Reynolds. There are three things you should know about me:

  1. I’m in a coma.
  2. My husband doesn’t love me anymore.
  3. Sometimes I lie.

Amber wakes up in a hospital. She can’t move. She can’t speak. She can’t open her eyes. She can hear everyone around her, but they have no idea. Amber doesn’t remember what happened, but she has a suspicion her husband had something to do with it. Alternating between her paralyzed present, the week before her accident, and a series of childhood diaries from twenty years ago, this brilliant psychological thriller asks: Is something really a lie if you believe it’s the truth?”

That’s all I have for now. When you read them, let me know what you think!

Manifest And Make It Happen

Last year I made a list of things I wanted to do in 2021, and surprisingly, I got most of them done! So let’s do it again and set more specific goals!

  • Get more nurses so I can live in my own apartment again
  • Get a new communication device
  • Create and film TWO new burly acts
  • Do more photoshoots
  • Hire burly PCAs (to do my makeup, dye my hair, and take photos)
  • Blog once a week
  • Learn about producing
  • Open Etsy store
  • Sell more art – make at least $30/month on Redbubble consistently
  • Get 3 more income streams – art commissions, blog, captioning, social media managing, etc
  • Grow my audience – 10 patrons on Patreon, 1,000 instagram followers

This list is a lot longer than last year, but I think I can do it. I WILL do it. I mean, there’s nothing else to do in quarantine while waiting for the anti-vaxxers and anti-maskers to get killed off the show, right?

I do love shopping too. I found this funny gift idea:

Mood.

A black background with white text that reads, "Dead Inside." Between the words is a white skull.

Hello! I made this a week ago and never promoted it. Oops. I’ve been very into making moody designs lately because I’ve been in a constant state of pissed off for months. Fun!

I’m trying to figure out ways to expand my audience and get more organic sales instead of just spamming my friends on the socials. So hopefully this blog will help!

If you like this design and want to buy it, you can get it on a plethora of things here: Redbubble

Welcome!

Fire Hazzzard is wearing a green elf hat, large rainbow glitter glasses, and a pink blanket. Her cat, Noodle is sitting in her arms looking mad because she's wearing a green festive collar with bells.

First, a picture of me laughing hysterically and my angry cat, Noodle on Christmas.

Wow, 2021 has been total bullshit. You too? Yeah.

One of my goals for this year was to get my website up and running, so I’ve been frantically working on it for a week. Paying for the domain for over a year will finally be worth it!

The highlight of 2021 for me was probably forcing myself to create a new burlesque act for the DisabiliTease Festival. It has a Christmas theme and ended up being hilarious, and I’m really proud of it. I also got to film it with my friends Minda Mae, VaVa Vashti, and Harley Synn. I could not stop laughing the entire time. Subscribe to my Patreon if you want to see it!

For 2022, I might have an idea for a new act that I’ll be playing around with. I’m also working on expanding my graphic design audience, so I’m going to have an Etsy at some point. In my shitshow personal life, I’m working on getting more nurses, so I can go back to living alone in my apartment and focusing on more important things like making art and doing more activism.

I hope you all have an amazing NYE and day!
